ABLE conducted the 2nd North East Entrepreneurship Development Workshop which is supported by Department of Biotechnology (DBT) - Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India. The workshop encourages the students of north east states to pursue entrepreneurship as a career option, which can further lead to employment generation and thereby contribute to the economic development of the north eastern region. The first workshop was conducted successfully in Guwahati from 25th-28th August, 2011.
Applications were received form states of Assam, Manipur, Sikkim, Meghalaya and Mizoram in which 55 students were shortlisted and called to attend the workshop. The sessions were conducted by Dr. Satya Prakash Dash (ABLE), Mr. Karnvir Mundrey (Atharva Lifesciences Consulting), Mr. Shyam Suryanarayanan (C-Drive HR Services), Ms. Sunita Shreedharan (SKS Law Associates).
In the workshop the students were familiarized with the basics such as, the scope in the Biotech Industry landscape and opportunity identification in entrepreneurship, as well as basic business skills and business planning, and basics of accounting and registering a company. The other topics covered were the source of Funding and Finance, the drafting of Business Plan and the HR aspects for Start Ups. The basics of Intellectual Property were also covered.
At the end of workshop the student's feedback was very good and some of them wanted ABLE to conduct such workshop in all the parts of North East region. The next two similar workshops will be conducted in Gangtok followed by Tezpur.
