Guwahati gears up to organize Biotech Conclave 2017 on January 5, 2017


The Guwahati Biotech Park (GBP), in association with Federation of Industry & Commerce of North Eastern Region (FINER), is hosting a two-day event, ‘Assam Biotech Conclave 2017’ from January 5, 2017.

The Guwahati Biotech Park (GBP is organizing a two-day ‘Assam Biotech Conclave 2017’ from January 5, 2017.

The conclave intends to provide an opportunity to understand the possibilities of industry oriented research and to start entrepreneurial venture in biotechnology and related areas in the north-eastern region of India.

According to the organizing committee, the Assamese Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal will be the Chief Guest and will inaugurate the Conclave. State Science and Technology Minister Keshab Mahanta, Dr Mohd. Aslam, Adviser, Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, Prof. Gautam Biswas, Director, IIT Guwahati, K M Hanunmantharayappa, Chairman, Central Silk Board, Bangalore, will be the eminent guests at the conclave.

Scientists, entrepreneurs, industrialists, incubation specialists, bureaucrats, delegates and dignitaries from all over India are expected to convene at the event. At the event’s curtain raiser Keshab Mahanta said although Assam is lagging behind in this sector of Science & Technology, the Assam Government is striving to uplift the sector.

He said apart from allocating 62 Bighas of for the Biotech Park at Amingaon, the Government has also tied up with IIT, Guwahati for the benefit of the entrepreneurs.

Guwahati Biotech Park is also organizing a contest entitled Talent Search Contest on Innovative Biotechnology Entrepreneurial Ideas. The shortlisted participants will present their proposals and the best proposals will be awarded.
