en-ABLE Awards presented to six start-ups


Mr Parshottam Rupala, Minister of State for Agriculture, Farmers welfare & Panchayati Raj, presented the first eN-ABLE Start-up Awards to 6 promising entrepreneurs at BioEconomy Conclave 2016.

ABLE recognizes start-ups in India for their exemplary work and promise with eN-ABLE Start-up Awards. These Awards have been instituted this year to honor start-ups for propelling the engines of BioEconomy in an extraordinary way. The Awards have been selected by an independent jury comprising of the executive council members of the Association.

The first eN-ABLE Start-up Awards Winners are Bugworks Research India Pvt Ltd, Genrich Membranes Pvt Ltd, Jeevtronics Pvt Ltd, Molqbits Sensors and Data Pvt Ltd, Mapmygenome India Ltd, String Bio Pvt Ltd.



BUGWORKS RESEARCH INDIA, 2014
BUGWORKS is a drug discovery company that aims to discover novel biopharmaceutical assets for the treatment of Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR). The company is fighting chaos and building a process in anti-infective drug discovery. Bugworks has built an Insilico Platform of bacteria, that will allow us to use breakthrough methods to identify \'new mechanisms\' to kill bad bugs
 
The company has a 10 member core team

GENRICH, 2014
GENRICH MEMBRANES is a spin-off based on NCL‘s technology created under Venture Center’s “Lab2Mkt” program. The start-up focuses on development of affordable oxygen-enrichment unit using hollow fibre membranes for treatment of COPD patients. Genrich has received Biotechnology Ignition Grant by DBT-BIRAC, GoI
HITOS is Oxygen enrichment unit for medical application based on hollow fiber membrane technology. It uses fast GPU based algorithms to provide results in a short time frame. This allows the strategist using the software to come up with a trajectory in less time, giving the flexibility to plan approach in time critical scenarios.

JEEVTRONICS PVT LTD, 2013
JEEVTRONICS is a disruptive cardiac innovation based company focused designing and implementing affordable medical devices for underdeveloped and rural areas.
The first product of the company is a novel hand-cranked defibrillator that will deliver a Bi-Phasic shock to teh heart with less than 15 seconds of cranking. The company has received Biotech Ignition Grant by DBT-BIRAC, GoI.


MAPMYGENOME, 2012
A molecular diagnostics company for people who are proactive about their health. MAPMYGENOME offers personalized health solutions based on genetic tests that help people to get to know about themselves.
Teams at Hyderabad & Delhi comprise biotechnologists, statisticians, geneticists, bioinformaticians, and medical counselors. Has a technical expertise of 15+ years in the domains of genomics and big data.
Awards – Mapmygenome named in the Red Herring Top 100 Asia award winners; 5 Top Innovators for Jio Economic Times Startup Awards 2015
Very strong scientific and management team and recently launched a carrier and newborn screening test called Babymap. It has a Core Team of 11 people.

MOLQBITS SENSORS AND DATA PVT LTD, 2015
This startup is working towards developing a novel pocket scanner based on Raman Spectroscopy for the analysis of food , water and agricultural products. The company has received  Biotechnology Ignition Grant by DBT-BIRAC, GoI

STRING BIO PVT LTD, 2013
Focuses on Synthetic Biology, Waste Management, Biodegradable plastics, Cleantech, Sustainability. This is the only company in India with proven technology for methane conversion. String has built SIMP – String Integrated Methane Platform to enable product development for diversified products.
This is a proprietary technology with innovation in biology and engineering addresses the process for conversion of waste to green chemicals. Strin Bio’s processes capture methane, largely from waste, into everyday products. Everyday products from plastic cups to high performance biodegradable polymers like stents and sutures.
